Non boring design: shaping my creative vision as an art director

I completed the “NON BORING DESIGN” course led by renowned Ukrainian designer Volodymyr Smyrnov. The program emphasized building a personal approach to art direction through the method of context, contrast, and a touch of poetry. Below are three projects I developed as part of the course.

Design a hand watch

I designed a watch inspired by the Japanese calendar of 24 seasons and 72 microseasons. The concept explores slowing the perception of time by turning each week into a moment of awareness and reflection on natural changes. The watch becomes a meditative tool, encouraging mindfulness in contrast to the fast pace of urban life.

Design whatever you wanted to
for a long time but didn't

I designed a chess set inspired by the sculptural style of Ukrainian artist Alexander Archipenko. Rather than replicating his work, I explored his forms, philosophy, and artistic vibe to reinterpret chess pieces as abstract sculptures. The concept blends play and art appreciation, turning each piece into a moment of discovery.

Design your own vyshyvanka

I created a model of an experimental vyshyvanka that blends embroidery patterns from Ukraine and around the world. Inspired by animalistic motifs, I decided to visualize a narrative piece featuring animals and geometric elements, exploring how cultural symbols interact to form new meanings. The result is a collectible garment that turns traditional embroidery into a global visual dialogue.
